BizFed is a 501 (c) (6) non-profit organization owned by its members and supported by member dues, grants, and contributions.


BizFed’s Board of Directors is comprised of one representative from each member organization.  The Board oversees BizFed’s operations, votes on policy positions, and otherwise provides guidance and leadership for the organization. Board officers are nominated and serve according to BizFed’s bylaws.


BizFed’s chief executive officer is responsible for leading and managing the organization in accordance with guidance, direction and policies set by the Board.  This includes managing the recruiting of additional staff, vendors, and/or partners and raising ongoing funds to ensure that BizFed succeeds.

BizFed’s officers lead the alliance’s key committees and are annually elected by BizFed’s Board of Directors. Officers are board member representatives from chambers and trade groups ensuring geographical coverage throughout each of the five LA County supervisor’s districts. BizFed also is comprised of premier corporate investing members with major operations in LA County.

A 2/3 vote of a quorum of the BizFed Board of Directors is required for BizFed to take a formal position on an issue.  To request a Board vote on an issue, the standard process is to first request BizFed’s Advocacy Committee fully vet the issue and make a recommendation to the Board.  Any two BizFed members, including at least one non-profit membership organization, may together request that an issue be placed on an Advocacy Committee agenda for consideration.
